I built a prosperous life doing work I love.
For nearly two decades, I've been the person behind the numbers at nonprofits around the world, from a tiny office in rural Nepal to boardrooms in New York. I've worked alongside organizations tackling clean water, girls' education, and community health, and for a long time I believed that caring about my work also meant sacrificing my own financial health and my physical and mental well-being. Turns out, I was wrong. I wrote Do Good and Prosper for everyone who cares deeply about their work, so you can see exactly how a prosperous, thriving life fits alongside the mission you love.
My story, the short version
I started my career chasing what looked like success inside a windowless office and work that meant nothing to me. So I left, and I spent the next years working in global development, getting as close to the mission as the finance person ever gets. I loved the work, but I also watched brilliant, devoted people, myself included, treat exhaustion like a badge of honor.
In 2015 I started 100 Degrees Consulting from my living room couch, and I built it into a company serving nonprofits around the world while I simultaneously built a much more thriving life. Along the way, I kept meeting people who believed prosperity and well-being was for someone else. The people I know in helping professions are the reason this book exists, and my mission is to help as many purpose-driven people as possible.

Nine marathons
Boston is my favorite, and I've run it four times. Nothing beats those crowds and the history!
Lake life
Most summer weekends you'll find me on a Finger Lakes dock with my two daughters, and a book (a happy ending romance or juicy memoir or business case study!)

My first business
When I was eight years old, I painted the insides of seashells with nail polish and sold them as ashtrays from the end of my driveway. (Nobody in my family smoked!)
